Ninth Judicial District Attorney Andrea Reeb announced that today, Steve L. Holcomb, age 60, of Clovis, NM, was found guilty by a Curry County jury of Driving While Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs, his 6th offense.

On March 5, 2015, Clovis Police responded to the drive through at Dairy Queen where Holcomb refused field sobriety tests and stated, “I am drunk so just take me to jail.”  Later Holcomb agreed to take a breathalyzer test which showed his blood alcohol level to be .28 and .27, which is more than three times the legal limit.

The jury heard testimony from Clovis Police officers in the one-day trial, and deliberated only 15 minutes before returning their guilty verdict.

The Honorable Fred Van Soelen presided over the trial and ordered that Holcomb be taken into custody pending a sentencing hearing.  Holcomb faces a minimum of 18 months to a maximum of 30 months in prison.

Assistant District Attorney, Kristen Beltran prosecuted the case for the State and Assistant Public Defender, Frank Rio represented Holcomb.
