Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that on October 27, 2016, Daniel Pruett, age 34, of Clovis, entered a guilty plea to charges of Sexual Exploitation of Children and Voyeurism. Andrea Reeb, was appointed as a Special Prosecutor for the case, due to a conflict with the District Attorney’s Office in Tucumcari.
In December of 2015, the victim’s mother contacted the New Mexico State Police about some videos she discovered on Pruett’s cell phone. The videos were of her 16 year old daughter getting in and out of the shower and getting dressed and undressed in her bedroom. At the time the videos were filmed, Pruett was living in the home in San Jon, NM.
The investigation showed that Pruett had strategically hidden his cell phone in order to capture the videos without the young girl’s knowledge.
The Honorable Albert J. Mitchell, Jr., presided over the hearing and ordered that Pruett undergo a sexual offender evaluation before sentencing. Pruett faces up to 13 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections.
Criminal Defense Attorney, Michael Aragon, of Las Vegas, NM, represents Pruett. For more information, please contact the District Attorney’s Office at 575-769-2246.
