Melissa Collier, At-Large Trustee for Lubbock ISD, announced her intention today to seek re-election to the Board of Trustees in May 2016.

Collier was elected to the board in May 2010.  She currently serves as Vice President of the Board and is the chairperson of the finance committee.

Collier, 41, co-owns and operates Collier Construction Company.  She currently serves on the LISD Foundation for Excellence Board and acts as Board Secretary for the Lubbock Methodist Hospital System.  She enjoys volunteering her time in Lubbock ISD classrooms, as well as serving on the PTA for both Honey Elementary and Evans Middle School.  Melissa and her husband Scott are natives of Lubbock.  They are both graduates of Monterey High School and Texas Tech University.  Her daughter Campbell, 13, attends Evans Middle School and her son Will, 10, attends Honey Elementary.

Collier’s family is deeply rooted in Lubbock, and she is committed to the success of Lubbock ISD.  She believes that a successful LISD lays the foundation for a strong community. “There are great things happening in Lubbock ISD.  I believe we have made significant strides in setting standards across our district that will ensure success at every campus,” Collier said.  “I hope to continue efforts that support teachers and campus personnel with tools to meet the needs of every student,” she added.  Of her commitment to Lubbock, Collier said, “I love Lubbock and want to see the success of all children in this district. I feel a responsibility to give back to a community and a district that has given so much to me and my family.”
