A special event spotlighting talent from several South Plains Schools will be on display at the annual Communities in Schools Crimson Gala. The theme “telling our story” will feature students sharing their personal accounts of the impact CIS has made in their education.

Enjoy performances from students in the Dunbar Jazz Band, Lubbock High’s Ballet Folklorico Ballet LUBBOCK, and South Plains Academy’s Uncommon Insight. A 1960’s style chopper motorcycle that was built by Slaton High School Students will be on display. Plus, Lubbock ISD, Dimmitt ISD, & Slaton ISD Culinary Arts Students will be assisting Honeychild Catering with the dinner. The event is a fundraiser for the Lubbock based non-profit who serves 54 school campuses across the area. Part of the evening will include a silent auction with over $3000 worth of merchandise and gift certificates from leading Lubbock businesses.

About Communities in Schools of the South Plains:
Founded in 1999, it is Communities In Schools of the South Plains’ objective to “empower students to achieve in life.” For 17 years the agency has fulfilled this objective resulting in more than 28,000 students receiving life-altering services. The efforts of CIS making a difference in the lives of students and families is well-documented and plays out in 17 counties districts and on 54 campuses where CIS operates in the Lubbock, the greater Lubbock, and the rural communities. The dropout issue is a community issue, and your sponsorship will go far in supporting CIS in its efforts to support and empower students to stay in school. All proceeds to benefit CIS student dropout prevention initiatives.
