Congressman Randy Neugebauer on Tuesday said the United States successfully raided ISIS over the weekend but more must be done.
Abu Sayyaf, a high-profile ISIS leader, was killed in the raid in Syria.
Neugebauer also said, “Sayyaf is believed to be responsible for ISIS’ finances, specifically their black market oil and gas operation.”
Neugabauer said, “I commend our service members on the frontlines who courageously went into harm’s way to carry out this successful raid.”
“I continue to believe the Obama administration must present a clearer plan to defeat and destroy ISIS, and stop the spread of terrorism,” Neugebauer said on Tuesday.
Neugebauer said the National Defense Authorization Act of 2015 passed the U.S. House of Representatives, and he hoped it would also pass the Senate. The bill has been criticized for proposed cuts of 20 percent to headquarters personnel and headquarters expenses.
Neugebauer also praised the House for passing the USA FREEDOM act which was meant to stop mass collection of American’s internet data. Critics have said the bill does not go far enough.
Neugebauer said the bill would “enable our security agencies to gather intelligence on suspected terrorists and prevent future attacks, while balancing our civil liberties.”
