Lubbock High School students recently filled the hallways with characters, snap chat filters, and scarecrows. In an effort to have a little fun and raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“Students get to learn something about what it means to give to other people,” said world history teacher and coach, Nathan Jephcott.
For just three dollars, students used their imaginations and dress up as anything they want to be to help a child fighting a life threatening illness be what they’ve always dreamed of. Student Council Member, Shyann Hailey, said, “We wanted to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.”
Principal Douglas Young said, “It’s just such a good cause to have an opportunity to grant a wish.”
Young has been working with the student council to make this event a big success.
“It’s great for kids to come out and support something and they have a little fun as well,” said Young. “It’s a great cause and when it goes to good things other people need it.”
These teenagers are wise beyond their years, knowing what they’re doing today will leave a life long impact on a child in need.
Hailey said, “You know their lives are preoccupied with their illness. It’s on their mind 24/7 and to have something to take their mind off of it, it’s a special moment in their lives that will be cherished forever.”
The students were able to raise seven hundred and fifty dollars for the Make-A-Wish foundation.
