“People love to eat out in Lubbock.”

David Cea has co-owned Orlando’s and Caprock Cafe for decades. He said he can’t believe Lubbock’s recent growth.

“I know Lubbock’s growing, but the amount of restaurants that are coming in to this market right now is insane, I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Cea.

“I think Lubbock loves a chain restaurant. it’s something you always look forward to. i remember when Krispy Kreme came, there had to be police to escort you in and out of the parking lot,” said the Chef and Owner of the West Table, Cameron West.

Some of the biggest chains have recently announced they’re moving to Lubbock – restaurants including In N Out, World of Beer, Walk On’s and Panera Bread.

“It’s going to be survival of the fittest and the biggest challenge is going to be staff,” said Cea.

Cea said many restaurants will have to look outside of Lubbock to fill the need.

“We’re actually at the point now, where we’re going to look for management talent in different cities or different states, looking at hiring head hunters because they’re not enough people in Lubbock,” said Cea.
