“We’ve kind of been limited by to number of services that we’ve been able to provide for kids here in the region.”
Covenant Children’s is excited about some new changing coming this year.
“At the Children’s hospital we are very excited to announce that we will be going live with a free standing children’s hospital license”.
What this means for you is that the hospital will now have the ability to expand their pediatric services and help more of the community.
And Thompson says this is only step one for them.
“Our goal is to be able to expand those service lines to where we can meet the quality that is in those other children’s hospitals. I always say we don’t want to take care of those kids just to take care of them, we want to take care of them in the same kind of quality that you are getting when you go to these other big metropolitan areas.”
“And so that will be our goal, is let us match that quality but let us be able to keep those kids as close to home as we can and be able to care for them here.”
She says this process will take time but after three years of waiting, Covenant Children’s can finally start making some beneficial changes that will impact the women and children of the south plains needing treatment.
Another service that Covenant Children’s is hoping to provide is Pediatric Psychiatry Services, which is one of the biggest issues plaguing children and adolescents across the United States.
