We are still in the middle of flu season and with the weather changing so much every week, it makes it even harder on asthma patients to avoid the flu. Laura Valdez gives us more information… Children with asthma are more susceptible to the flu because they are both respiratory problems. Children with asthma already have a hyperactive airway and then you add the flu symptoms on top of this and they’re more likely to have an increase of asthma exacerbation or asthma attacks. Parents that have children with asthma need to watch out for difficulty breathing and watch out for any problems keeping fluids in. Always follow your asthma action plan if you notice any symptoms.
