Covenant Health Responds to City Council’s Decision Regarding City – UMC Long-Term, EMS Agreement

Covenant Health applauds the City Council’s decision today [Thursday] removing from its consent agenda the approval of a long term, exclusive Emergency Medical Service (“EMS”)/ambulance with University Medical Center and request for the formation of a subcommittee. A decision this critical to the community deserves a full and public discussion and vote.

“Based on Council’s decision tonight, Covenant Health looks forward to the opportunity to educate our community on the tremendous benefits of a dual-hospital ambulance service which includes a Covenant ambulance service option. The more units on the road and the more resources available for ambulance services will help save lives in our community. We look forward to participating in and working on the subcommittee,” said Richard Parks, President/CEO of Covenant Health.

The taxpayers of Lubbock deserve an EMS and ambulance service that is efficient, cost effective, and delivers the best care possible to our community.
