The Great American Smokeout is coming up on November 17. The goal is to give people who are looking to quit smoking options.

“We’re trying to use all of the resources available to our community to help them stop smoking,” Covenant’s Dina Smith said.

Smith is the lung nurse navigator at the Joe Arrington Cancer center.

“Usually smokers will not stop right away, it takes a couple of times,” Smith said.

Part of the Great American Smokeout is giving people who smoke all the options and resources available to them when it comes to quitting smoking.

Part of their smoking resources include working with people who have quit smoking already.

“People who have smoked before, they know what it’s like to just stop,” Smith said. “It’s very addictive. People who have not smoked, they don’t know what they’re going through.”
