CPS Was Involved Before Teen Girl Stabbed, Killed in Lubbock County

State regulators on Thursday released a statement concerning the stabbing death of Holli Jeffcoat, 18, of rural Idalou.  Jeffcoat was found dead Wednesday morning in a home south of Idalou.

A written statement said, “The Department of Family and Protective Services is investigating the death of Holli Jeffcoat along with law enforcement. A 15-year old sibling is in foster care, receiving therapy and we’ll continue to monitor her safety and welfare. The family did have prior involvement with CPS.”

Court records in 2008 indicated Children’s Protective Services suspected that Jeffcoat was the victim of sexual abuse.  She would have been age 10 at the time.

“Holli … [has] been around several people and there were currently no leads on who sexually abused Holli [Jeffcoat],” CPS said in the 2008 court records.

A search of public records has so far not revealed any charges related to the sexual abuse of Jeffcoat.

The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Department described Jeffcoat as a special needs student.  She was found stabbed to death and a fire was started in the home in an attempt to cover up the crime, according to LSO.

No arrests were made for her death as of late Thursday afternoon.  Several people had been questioned according to LSO.
