The Canadian River Municipal Water Authority on Thursday announced a water outage to Lubbock, Amarillo and other West Texas cities. During the most recent outage, Lubbock said its water service would be sufficient because of other sources. In addition to CRMWA, Lubbock has water from Bailey County and Lake Alan Henry.
In the last week of December, the aqueduct was shut down for repairs. The shutdown went on longer than expected because of more than one rupture in the pipeline.
The CRMWA statement is copied below:
The Canadian River Municipal Water Authority has shut down their Main Aqueduct north of Amarillo as of this morning. This scheduled outage is expected to last 2 to 3 weeks. During this shut down, CRMWA will commission an internal electromagnetic survey and make proactive pipe repairs as needed and as time allows.
Another similar shutdown is scheduled for March.
