On May 1, around 4:45 a.m., Curry County sheriff’s deputies were called to the plains regional medical center to investigate the death of 30-year-old Francisco Perez.

They say Perez was in a dispute with someone who allegedly borrowed his vehicle, and failed to return it.

Officials say Perez then pursued that person from Clovis to Portales, then back to the Clovis area.

Near Southland and Mississippi Streets, just south of Clovis, Perez was shot and taken to the hospital.

He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Now investigators are trying to find the following witnesses for more information: Dominic Carver, 24, Judas Lopez, 19, and Jimmy Apodaca, 31.

Anyone with information about this investigation or the whereabouts of those witnesses are asked to call the Curry county sheriff’s office.
