This week, Amarillo based entertainment company, Hastings, filed papers in the court to liquidate all assets.
Hastings has two locations in Lubbock, one off Indiana and 50th, the other off Slide and 82nd st.
Customers shopping on Thursday could not hide their heartache.
“I’ve been shopping at Hastings since I was itty bitty,” Caden Cypert said. “We grew up a little outside of Levelland and drove here and came to Hastings every time we were in Lubbock.”
Cypert said he and his girlfriend often shop for movies and music, spending hours browsing the store shelves.
“It is going to be hard driving past here and seeing the empty store,” Cypert said. “It’s going to be rough. “
Five weeks ago, the company filed for bankruptcy protection and started looking for a buyer to help them stay in business.
The company was purchased and the new buyer decided to sell off all the company’s assets. The deal should be approved Friday.
