Dawson County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating an unusual sexual assault case that happened last Tuesday.

“One of our deputies had gotten a call at a location outside of town, just northeast of the city in the county, of an alleged sexual assault,” Dawson County Sheriff Matt Hogg said.

A woman said two men in an unmarked van, claiming to be utility company employees, sexually assaulted her at home.

“After the subject that had gone in the residence had gotten done with whatever he was looking for, that’s when the alleged assault occurred,” Hogg said.

So far the Sheriff’s office said it’s an isolated incident, but they’ll be checking in with nearby counties to make sure they haven’t had any similar cases.

Hogg confirmed they’ve spoken to a pair of suspects.

“The following day, we had another call of a vehicle matching the description, that was in another area of the county…driving around a neighborhood,” Hogg said, “The person who called said they had never seen the van, and they didn’t know what they were doing, or if they were trying to steal [stuff].”

Unfortunately, the Sheriff can’t make any arrests until the victim has a chance to identify the men.

“We’ve got both of them [the suspects] identified, we know where they live, everything…we’re just waiting on the lineup.”
