Texas Department of Public Safety investigators have identified the man who died in a officer involved shooting.
On Friday, July 17th, at around 3:00 a.m., a Brownsville police officer was involved in an incident in which he fired his weapon resulting in the death of Jose Roman Rodriguez, 24. Rodriguez was rushed to a local hospital but died at the hospital.
A second suspect, identified as Jaime Gomez, 22, was taken into custody on a unrelated aggravated robbery charge and for evading on foot in connection to the shooting.
Investigators say any additional information regarding the officer involved shooting is pending and any further details will be provided at a later time.
