The Texas Department of Public Safety said one person died in a rollover on Thursday afternoon.
DPS said the crash occurred around 4:16 p.m. on U.S. Highway 87 in Dawson County, approximately 8 miles north of Lamesa.
According to DPS, Jahziel Ortiz, 19, of Deming, NM, was driving northbound in a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer on the highway and “drifted into the center median and rolled.”
Jahziel was pronounced deceased by a local doctor in Lamesa.
Only one vehicle was involved in the accident, DPS said.
