The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was called to a two-vehicle crash this morning on State Loop (SL) 335 and Whitaker Road in Potter County, resulting in the death of one person.
At approximately 8:40 a.m., Larry Jobe, 52, of Amarillo, was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on SL-335, approximately 2 miles north of Amarillo. David Duque Jr., 47, of Houston, was driving a 2013 Ford pickup truck northbound on Whitaker Road. Duque Jr. stopped at the stop sign at Whitaker Road and SL-335 and attempted to cross over the eastbound lanes of SL-335. Duque Jr., failed to yield right of way to the motorcycle, driven by Jobe, and proceeded to cross over the eastbound lanes of SL-335. Jobe was unable to avoid the collision and crashed into the front driver’s side of the pickup truck.
Jobe was pronounced dead on scene by Potter County Justice of the Peace, Thomas Jones.
Duque Jr. and his passenger were not injured.
Jobe was not wearing his helmet.
The road conditions were dry and no other vehicles were involved.
