The Texas Department of Public Safety began an investigation Thursday morning into a fatal crash in Yoakum County.
DPS said Cornelius Neustaeter, 39, of Denver City was pronounced dead at the scene. Abram Neustaeter, 17, of Denver City was a passenger with Cornelius. Abram was seriously hurt and taken to a hospital in Lovington, New Mexico.
DPS said Cornelius Neustaeter was driving a pickup truck before 8:30 a.m. northbound on FM 769 at the intersection with U.S. Highway 82 in Yoakum County. DPS said there was heavy fog at the time.
DPS said Neustaeter did not stop at the stop sign at the intersection. His pickup truck struck the side of an 18-wheeler driven by Raymon Woods, 40, of Littlefield. Woods was not injured according to DPS.
