The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was called to a one vehicle crash that occurred Thursday in Roberts County, resulting in the death of one person.
At approximately 9:11 a.m., Francis John Sokolosky, 84, of Pampa, Texas, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound on FM 282 approximately 3 miles west of Miami, Texas. The Chevrolet Tahoe left the roadway, traveled into the south barrow ditch, through a barbed wire fence and into a field. The Tahoe then traveled over a 20 foot cliff and landed on a rock formation where it rested on its left side. The exact cause of the crash is unknown, but it is believed that a medical condition could have been a contributing factor.
Sokolosky was pronounced dead on scene by Roberts County Justice of the Peace, T. Seuhs.
Road conditions were dry and no other vehicles were involved.
Sokolosky was not wearing his seat-belt.
