The Texas Department of Public Safety said a pickup crash killed the driver Thursday evening in Floyd County about 11 miles northeast of Floydada.
DPS said Yared Pinon-Pecina, 26, Floydada was pronounced dead at the scene.
DPS said the truck was going west on County Road 160 when Pinon-Pecina lost control. The truck overturned and ejected both Pinon-Pecina and a passenger, according to DPS.
The passenger, Elliot Fernandez, 23, was airlifted to University Medical Center with critical injuries.
DPS said, “The crash is still currently under investigation.”
