DPS Seizes Illegal Drugs While Investigating Crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized approximately 11 pounds of marijuana and 12 grams of methamphetamine while investigating a crash last Friday.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., a DPS trooper was called to investigate a crash on US 287 near Hedley. One of the vehicles involved was a 2002 BMW passenger car driven by Dustin Jones, 35, of Auburn, Calif. During the crash investigation, the trooper discovered marijuana inside a plastic container located in the trunk and methamphetamine located between the front seats.

Jones and passenger, James Clark, 37, of Nevada City, Calif., were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.  Once released from the hospital, Jones and Clark were arrested, booked into the Potter County Jail and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and marijuana.

The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Pueblo, Colo., to Dallas.
