The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized more than 17 pounds of methamphetamine Saturday, after a DPS Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.
At approximately 10 a.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2016 Ford Edge traveling east on I-40 near Conway for a traffic violation. The trooper then discovered eight vacuum-sealed packages of methamphetamine inside the vehicle worth approximately $1.42 million.
The driver, Edgar Casteneda, 25, and passenger, Oscar Cota, 24, were arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Casteneda, from Canoga, Calif., and Cota, from Chula Vista, Calif., were transported and booked into the Carson County Jail.
The drugs allegedly were being transported from Chula Vista, Calif., to Oklahoma City.
