The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized over 20 pounds of methamphetamine Saturday, after a DPS Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.
At approximately 1:15 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2002 Jeep Liberty traveling east on IH-40 near Conway, for a traffic violation. The trooper then discovered cellophane-wrapped packages of methamphetamine throughout the vehicle. The methamphetamine is worth approximately $1.78 million.
The driver, Jose Perez Ruelas, 21, and passenger, Juan Lopez Niebla, 33, both of Mexico, were arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Ruelas and Niebla were transported and booked into the Carson County jail.
The drugs allegedly were being transported from Phoenix to Oklahoma City.
