The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized almost 18 pounds of methamphetamine and almost ten pounds of cocaine Sunday after a traffic stop in Carson County.

At approximately 2 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped an eastbound 2016 Toyota 4runner for a traffic violation on I-40 near Conway. The trooper then discovered several plastic-wrapped packages of methamphetamine and cocaine inside the spare tire. The drugs are worth approximately $2.18 million.

The driver, Abreu Rodriguez, 33, of Tampa, Fla., was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Rodriguez was transported and booked into the Carson County Jail.
