The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized over $1.1 million in illegal drugs Saturday.

At approximately 3:05 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2003 Honda van for a traffic violation on IH-40 near Conway, in Carson County.  During the traffic stop, a DPS canine unit was called and alerted on the vehicle. The trooper conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered several packages of heroin and cocaine located in a compartment underneath the rear floorboard. The heroin and cocaine weighed over 16 pounds.

The driver was identified as Alejandro Icedo, 45, of Tucson, Ariz.  Icedo was arrested, booked into the Carson County jail and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.

The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Phoenix to Oklahoma City.
