The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized over $167,000 in marijuana Saturday.
At approximately 12:59 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2010 Ford Fusion for a traffic violation on US 87 near Dumas, in Moore County. During the traffic stop, a DPS canine unit was called and alerted on the vehicle. The trooper conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered several vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana located in the trunk. The marijuana weighed almost 28 pounds.
The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Joseph Faught, 27, and Alexis Faught, 19, both of Highlands, Texas. The occupants were arrested, booked into the Moore County jail and charged with felony possession of marijuana.
The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from La Junta, Colo., to Highlands, Texas.
