DPS Trooper Seizes Over $198,000 in Marijuana

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Sunday on IH-40, yielding over 32 pounds of marijuana valued at over $198,000.

At approximately 1:28 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2015 Nissan Altima for a traffic violation on IH-40 near Bushland in Potter County.  During the traffic stop, the trooper conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered five large bundles of marijuana inside luggage located in the trunk.


The driver of the Nissan, identified as Nakima Elliot, 41, of Bonaire, Ga., was arrested, booked into the Potter County jail and charged with felony possession of marijuana.  

The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Los Angeles, Calif., to Ga.
