The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized over $342,000 in marijuana Tuesday.
At approximately 9:00 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2014 Nissan Maxima for a traffic violation on IH-40 near Bushland, in Potter County. During the traffic stop, a DPS canine unit was called and alerted on the vehicle. The trooper conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered numerous packages of marijuana weighing over 56 pounds.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as Andrew Byrer, 27, of Brazil, Ind., was arrested, booked into the Potter County jail and charged with felony possession of marijuana.
The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Sacramento, Calif., to Louisiana.
