Jon Hansen spoke with Dr. Cedric W. Spak, MD, MPH, with Baylor Medical Center in Dallas about infectious diseases, such as zika.

Dr. Spak thought the biggest concern for Texas in regards to zika has to do with “it’s new immerging infection involving mosquitos” this being a problem for many living in Texas.

And speaking on how frustrating it can be when dealing with a new mosquito born illness, “we have to figure it out as the events are transpiring in front of us.”  Since the symptoms are so vague, Dr Spak says, “it’s not like someone is going to show up to the emergency room and then all the doctors are going to think … this person has the zika virus.”
