The Department of Public Safety said Dallas Cox, 21, of Muleshoe lost his life in a crash 8.6 miles northwest of Muleshoe in Bailey County. DPS was notified of the crash at 6:51 Friday morning. The estimated time of the crash was 12:50 am.
DPS said Cox was driving a pickup truck northbound on County Road YL when the truck hit the back left tire of a John Deer tractor parked along the side of the road.
Cox was not wearing a seat belt, according to DPS. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
DPS issued the following written statement Friday afternoon:
The Texas Department of Public Safety was called to investigate a major crash in Bailey County today at 6:51 a.m. The crash occurred on County Road YL, 8.6 miles north of Muleshoe. Dallas Cox, 21 of Muleshoe, was travelling northbound in a Ford Ranger pickup on CR YL and ran into the back of a John Deer tractor that was parked on the west side of the barrow ditch on the southbound side of County Road YL. Cox was not wearing a safety belt and was pronounced deceased at the scene at 7:55 a.m. DPS troopers estimate the crash happened around 12:50 a.m.
