Lubbock Police were on the scene of a homicide investigation in the 2100 block of Avenue P when a 25-year-old gunshot victim drove up and approached officers.
“The suspect vehicle was following him,” police said in a statement Wednesday morning. “Officers attempted to follow/stop the fleeing suspects but lost sight of the vehicle.”
The victim had a minor gunshot wound, according to police. He was taken to University Medical Center for treatment.
The police statement did not mention the location of the shooting, however, there was a report of shots fired just after midnight Wednesday in the 1700 block of Buddy Holly Avenue.
Officers were unable to find any other victims or witnesses. Police provided no indication that the shooting was directly related to two homicide investigations Tuesday evening — one at 2100 Avenue P or the other at 32nd Street and University Avenue.
