Six people were displaced after a fire broke out in a Central Lubbock duplex early Monday morning.
The fire occurred in the 1600 block of Avenue N around 2:00 a.m.
According to the Lubbock Fire Department, the reporting party stated the fire began in a fireplace and there was flames and smoke. The caller also advised there were 3-4 people still inside the duplex.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to find a fire in the living room and also in the attic.
A male individual suffered a minor burn injury to his hand. No other injuries were reported.
The Fire Marshal’s Office was called to investigate and determined the fire was accidental.
The duplex had no utilities and the occupants were attempting to stay warm by burning materials in the fireplace, authorities said.
The Red Cross was called to assist the six adults.
