The Lubbock County Elections Office released preliminary numbers after early voting ended Friday.
25,612 voters came to the polls in the 11-day early voting period this year.
That number is up by 7,171 from the 2012 election, when 17,991 people came to the polls during early voting.
This year’s early voting numbers rivaled the statistics from 2008, when 25,512 people took part in the early voting period. That year, 47,780 people voted in the primary in Lubbock County.
According to the elections office, 155,575 people registered to vote in Lubbock County for the 2016 election.
