Police released the name of a Jacksonville man who drowned in Lake Acker Saturday afternoon.
35-year-old K.D. Dixon was dropped off at the lake in the middle of the afternoon on the 4th of July and was alone at the time he died.
His wife notified police on Sunday the 5th that Dixon had gone missing the afternoon before.
Dixon’s wife and her friend spent the entire weekend searching for him before they found his body floating in Lake Acker.
They notified police and when officers arrived to the scene, they confirmed that Dixon was deceased.
Daniel Burrow, Jacksonville Police Department Detective, told MyEastTex.com, “[Dixon’s wife and her friend] did observe the body partially floating in the water. That’s how they knew, they knew him to be going to that place, it’s a common place that he would go to swim and fish so that’s where they knew to start looking. They had made contact with the last person that had seen him and that last person told them that’s where he had supposedly dropped him off.”
MyEastTex.com spoke to an employee from the Jacksonville Water Treatment Facility which owns the property surrounding Lake Acker Dam. he informed us that the area where Dixon’s body was found is off limits.
Detectives are still investigating the cause of death but say they do not believe it was foul play. More information will be released once investigators interview more individuals and speak with the man who last saw Dixon.
