The police chief of an East Texas city has resigned after making offensive posts on social media.

According to myeasttex.com, now-former Jacksonville Police Chief Reece Daniel wrote Facebook posts on Tuesday referring to residents in a derogatory manner.

He referenced an app called See-Click-Fix that allows residents to share concerns about the city.  He said it is actually not confidential, stating, “By the way dummies, your name shows up even when you post it anonymously.”

Residents expressed concerns when the posts showed up.

One said, “That’s an abuse of power.”

Daniel was with the Jacksonville Police Department for 10 years. Captain Daniel Franklin, Assistant Police Chief, will serve as interim chief until a replacement is hired.
