An Ector County ISD student will be disciplined after reportedly bringing a replica gun to his elementary school on Monday morning, according to a release from district officials.
Sometime before school began at San Jacinto Elementary, a teacher was told that a first grade student had a gun in his backpack, according to the release.
District officials say the students, along with the backpack were taken to the office and ECISD police were notified.
It was later determined that it was a ‘replica gun’ and did not have the capability of being fired, according to the release.
No charges will be filed, according to district officials, however the student will be disciplined based on the ECISD code of conduct.
ECISD officials are also taking this opportunity to reminding parents to check their children backpacks each day.
