Around 6:30 p.m on Monday, Lubbock Police were called to the 3000 block of Darmouth for an accident involving an elderly man.
It appears the man’s vehicle rolled over him trapping and killing him underneath.
Lubbock Police released the following statement Monday night:
This evening, Monday, March 21, 2016, at approximately 5:56 p.m., patrol officers responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash in the 3000 block of Dartmouth Street. The pedestrian, Victor Cerda – 81, was backing out of his driveway. He exited his vehicle, at 2002 Ford Explorer, to open a gate. The vehicle continued to back and ran over him as he walked behind the vehicle. He suffered life-threatening injuries and died at the scene. The front passenger and only occupant was not injured. The Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene and is investigating.
