An Electra couple is jailed in connection with the alleged abuse of their 4-year-old daughter last week.
32-year-old Michael Pumfrey and 28-year-old Jennie Evans are charged with injury to a child with bodily injury.
Their bonds are set at $100,000 each.
Police responded to a home on North Electra Street after getting a call from the girl’s grandparent about a dark bruise on her left ear and shoulder.
The girl separately told her grandparent, officers and a Child Protective Services investigator that ‘her daddy hit her after she began crying when told she could not spend the night with her grandparent.’
Later, police say an interview with Evans revealed inconsistent stories, first that she saw no injury, and then that it was the result of a fall from a slide.
Police believe Evans knew of the injury and made no attempt to prevent or report it.
