Emergency crews responded to the scene of a two vehicle accident early Saturday evening in Slaton.
The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 84 (Slaton Highway) in the westbound lanes around 6:15 p.m.
According to a news release from the Slaton Police Department, a Chevrolet Malibu collided with a Ford Expedition in the main lanes of traffic.
The driver of the Malibu, along with four passengers, sustained non-incapacitating injuries but were transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock. A fifth occupant in the vehicle, a three year old girl, was airlifted from the accident scene to University Medical Center.
A hospital spokesman told EverythingLubbock.com Sunday evening the three-year-old remains in critical condition.
Two passengers in the Expedition were also transported to University Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries.
The driver of the Expedition was treated and released from the accident scene.
The Slaton Police Department, Slaton Fire Department, Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, UMC EMS and AeroCare all responded to the accident.
