Opening in Lubbock movies theaters this weekend: Entourage. The boys are back, this time on the big screen in a movie about… a movie. Jeremy Piven now runs a major studio, and offers Adrian Grenier his first leading role. But he wants to direct, and goes millions of dollars over budget. Their bond remains strong as the gang goes through the trials and tribulations of Hollywood. Rated R and less than two-hours, you can catch the star-studded hijinks at Tinseltown, Premiere, the Alamo and out at Stars and Stripes.

Lubbock Moonlight Musicals, rehearsing now for next week’s premiere of Shrek, The Musical. It’s based on the movie and will be fun for the whole family. Your favorite characters will come to life on the Moonlight Musicals Amphitheatre in Mackenzie Park, same place as last summer. You can get your tickets now through Select-A-Seat. The show runs Friday and Saturday nights from the 12th to the 27th.  Travis Burge, who plays Shrek, speaks to the show’s true meaning: “I think that’s the principle and moral of the entire show is that you shouldn’t based off of how they look or necessarily how they act, but you should look to the heart of people, and that’s where you really find beauty because beautiful isn’t always pretty.”

And if you like planes, there’s no better place to be than Slaton, Saturday. It’s the South Plains Air Show out at the Slaton Municipal Airport. The Texas Air Museum puts on the show every year. There will be a World War II re-enactment, a  P-51 performance, and much more. Gates open at 9:00 a.m., and the show lasts from noon to 4:00 p.m. Just $10 for adults, $ for kids 5 to 12, and the little ones get in free. Again, it’s this Saturday only, and take the Slaton Exit off 84, then two miles north on 400.

That’s a look at what’s happening on the South Plains!
