Last Tuesday the Rodriguez family of Kress was involved in a deadly car accident near Ropesville.
The lone survivor of the triple fatal crash, Francisca Rodriguez, was released from the hospital on Monday and taken to rehabilitation, according to family members.
“It was pretty devastating for our entire family and it came to a big shock,” said family member Angelica Rodriguez. “Our family was very close and it’s just been a hard time.”
DPS said Linda Rodriguez, 42, was driving a black SUV when the car overcorrected and crashed into a nearby field along U.S. Highway 62/82.
Rodriguez’s daughter, Jade Villeda,11, was in the front seat and Linda’s father, Angel, was in the back seat. All three died at the scene, except Linda’s mother, Francisca, she was also sitting in the back seat at the time of the accident.
“My grandmother was the only survivor of the car accident and she has multiple injuries, multiple fractures that she sustained during the wreck that they found both at the time of the accident and days after the accident they discovered new injuries,” said Angelica.
Her grandmother is hoping to make a full recovery even through this devastating time.
“She is very heartbroken that she wasn’t able to attend services or burial for her husband and be able to be a part of everything,” said Angelica. “But, she is doing the best she can just rehabilitating and getting herself physically better.”
The family has created a Go-Fund me page to help pay for funeral costs as well as the surviving grandmother’s medical bills.

“I just want to let everybody that has helped or is thinking about helping to know, that our family really appreciates anything that has been given, donated or just their condolences from the bottom of our hearts we just want to say thank you to everybody and to your generosity and to just please keep our family in your prayers and thoughts because this is going to be a tough road, this is only the beginning and it is going to be so much harder from here on out,” said Angelica.
The family is also collecting donations at Lone Star State Bank 6220 Milwaukee Ave for the Rodriguez family.
