One Lubbock family is still searching for answers and justice in the murder of their loved one, Robert Ramirez Sr. On the second anniversary of his death, Ramirez’s family gathered at the Lubbock cemetery not to grieve, but to celebrate his life.
“He’s just like a happy person, a caring person,” shared daughter, Alexis Ramirez about her father. “Any time it came to his kids, his grandkids, he’d put them before himself always.”
“I know he was our little brother, but you know what? He took care of us,” said Mary Lou Ramirez, his older sister. “I still can’t believe that he’s gone, I still think that he’s here, he’s here with us.”
On September 05, 2014, Ramirez and his son were attacked in a random shooting outside of his home. Ramirez’s son survived, Ramirez did not. To this day, the murder case remains unsolved leaving the Ramirez family without closure about their loved one’s death.
“I just ask the Lord that one day soon, that He’s going to answer our prayer that we’ll find this person whoever did this to him or that He can step up and turn himself in. Have the courage,” said Mary Lou Ramirez.
“Come forward. Tell us, so we can finally let my dad be at peace,” said Alexis Ramirez.
On Monday, the family dedicated a balloon release at the cemetery in honor of Robert Ramirez Sr. They say they won’t stop fighting for justice.
Witnesses to the 2014 crime has been described as a 5’6″ – 5’8″ black male with shoulder length dreads and they fled the scene in a Dodge Magnum.
Thanks to Crime Line and fundraising efforts by the Ramirez family, the reward for this case is now at $7,000.
