Court records acquired by EverythingLubbock.com on Monday showed new details into the drug bust in Lubbock that made national news in late October.
Sidney Caleb Lanier, 36, was arrested along with Jessica Christine Holl, 28, and Jamie Marie Robertson, 32. They were accused of buying Fentanyl on the so-called Dark Web from China and distributing it in Lubbock. Fentanyl, even in small quantities, can be deadly.
New documents were filed last week in court which were not accessible through Lubbock County’s electronic court records system. A photojournalist tracked them down in person at the courthouse on Monday.
They name two people who died in Lubbock due to Fentanyl overdoses.
One of the victims was not tied directly to Lanier and his codefendants by specific details in the court records. The other victim was tied to the ongoing Lanier investigation.
In the early morning hours of October 7, Lubbock Police were called to the 4200 block of 37th Street.
Court records said Christopher Craddick was located in the bathroom by his mother. Lubbock Fire Rescue and EMS tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman associated with Lanier who has not yet been charged with a crime for the Fentanyl drug bust was questioned by police.
Court records said, “[Her] vehicle had been vandalized, and written … were the words ‘I killed Chris Craddick’ and ‘Your [sic] Next C***.’”
This same woman who has not yet been charged led police to Peyton Wilson, 22, who was shot and injured by police on November 4. Police were going to search Wilson’s home in the 2200 block of 2nd Place when there was a brief armed confrontation.
After Wilson was shot, he was taken to University Medical Center for treatment and then later he was transferred to the Lubbock County Detention Center.
Court records said, “[Jessica Christine] Holl told investigators that she had been purchasing Fentanyl from Peyton Wilson. Holl stated that she was instructed not to call the substance Fentanyl because people were dying.”
There is an indication that Wilson was selling illegal drugs at or near a facility to treat drug addiction.
Court records said, “However, on the occasion that ‘Peyton’ does leave his residence he has been known to travel to a methadone clinic … to distribute narcotics.”
Court records said Lanier, Wilson and several others, “agreed with each other to and engaged in the purchasing and trafficking of controlled substances.”
Prosecutors have requested permission to permanently seize cash, bank accounts, weapons and other items from Lanier which was the source of the newest court records.
Wilson was held on a $250,000 bond at the Lubbock County Detention Center. Lanier, Holl and Robertson were held on a $500,000 bond.
