The Volunteer Center presents the Youth Film Festival on Friday, May 6th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts (LHUCA) Firehouse Theatre, 511 Avenue K, as part of the First Friday Art Trail.
This festival will showcase short films created by students from South Plains schools that demonstrate the impact of youth volunteerism, as well as, a gallery of photographs from the Volunteer Center’s Youth Connection programs.
“It’s encouraging to see the efforts of our youth across the South Plains work to make the community better. This event is fun for our students and an incredible opportunity for the community to support youth volunteerism and see their impact.” said CiCi Nunez, Service Coordinator.
Participants of the Volunteer Center’s Youth In Service (YIS) program filmed and edited footage from service projects completed by students during the school year. The videos will run on a loop throughout the duration of the art trail.
Youth In Service recognizes youth for outstanding volunteer efforts. In addition, they receive training, information, and resources to impact the community. The Volunteer Center proudly partners with 40 area schools in this program.
This event is made possible by The CH Foundation, the Helen Jones Foundation, and the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts. For more information or to coordinate media coverage of the event, contact CiCi Nunez at cnunez@volunteerlubbock.org.
