Work to place the final road surface on US 385 in Hockley County is schedule to begin Monday, May 15. The work will encompass more than 16 miles, from Brazil Road to the Lamb County Line, and is expected to take six weeks to complete; weather permitting.

Paving operations are scheduled to take place primarily on weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but some Saturday work is possible. The work will reduce US 385 to one-lane of traffic in approximately 1.5 mile segments and delays up to 10 minutes are possible. Both north- and southbound US 385 traffic will be impacted. Drivers will be guided through the work zone via pilot car and are asked to drive with caution through the work zone for their safety and the safety of the workers.

The work is part of two projects that have been rebuilding the existing roadway from SH 114 to County Road Brazil and then from County Road Brazil to the Hockley/Lamb County Line. Combined project cost is more than $20.8 million.
