The Lubbock Fire Department responded to the scene of a structure fire in South Central Lubbock early Sunday morning.
The fire occurred in the 1900 block of 61st Street around 12:50 a.m.
Crews arrived on the scene to discover flames coming from the structure. The fire was contained to one room but the entire structure suffered heavy smoke damage.
Firefighters rescued a female victim from the room and administered CPR. The victim was then transported by ambulance to University Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire at this time.
The victim was the only occupant inside the structure, authorities said.
