Firefighters Battle House Fire in North Lubbock Sunday Afternoon

The Lubbock Fire Department was dispatched Sunday afternoon to a house fire in North Lubbock just south of the airport.

The fire was reported around 1:50 p.m. at 921 East Purdue Street.

Crews arrived on scene to find a home fully engulfed and heavy smoke in the area.

The Lubbock Fire Department told EverythingLubbock.com that no one was inside the home but a dog did suffer burns.

Damage was sustained to the front end of the house but the structure is considered a total loss.

Two people who lived in the home are now displaced but Red Cross assistance was not needed.

The Fire Marshall’s Office was called to the scene and a spokesperson for Lubbock fire said “it’s highly possible” that the fire was started by fireworks.

A grass fire was reported earlier in the day near the structure fire and authorities are investigating if the two may be connected.
