Units with Lubbock Fire Rescue was dispatched late Saturday evening to a mobile home fire in South Lubbock.

The fire was reported just before midnight in the 11600 block of University Avenue at the Fort Jackson Mobile Home Estates.

Lubbock Fire Rescue said one-quarter of the mobile home was damaged by the fire and the entire mobile home suffered smoke damage.

There were no injuries reported but a cat was found deceased.

The Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene to investigate and ruled the fire was accidental.

Authorities said an oversized light bulb in a ceiling fixture was the source of the fire. Curtains near the fixture were ignited by the light bulb.

The Red Cross was called to assist one adult.
